On the Spot Poetry Writing Contest Winning Poem : Cultural Being by Emebiriodo Peterson Ugochukwu

IMG_20151223_155757[1]

I’m a cultural being running

With multi-faceted splashes

Of soul and nativity

Voice above the Kilimanjaro

Heard as low as Mbiama

Known from Ugep to Calabar

Agbor to Asaba

Borokiri to Mile One

Agbowo to Bodija

I’m made from shades of tradition

Nurtured at the city square of Abule-egba

Raised by a thousand mothers

I am the sound from Ilu-bata

The rhythm from Owigri

I am what tourists seek in Argungu

I am the outstretched hills of Enugu and Ibadan

Bedrocks of creative enclaves

Connecting all borders

I am words uttered in penned lines

I am poetry

Baked with Tradition
