PHOTO POETRY (ISSUE 8)
RUSTED PETAL | Olaitan Maryam Mojisola
I am…
The battered treasure
In your weeping hands,
The cold voice
Beneath your pounding chest.
I am the crushed petal betwixt
The twin-pillar you visit at dark
The rusted organ that births elegic sonnets.
I am the nightmare
That graces your mornings
With soiled faces
Of ugly epistles
The shaded picture that falls off
Your cracked wall.
The hueful palm that strokes
Your backyard as dried whips.
Now…
I am the Jezebel in every town;
The devil in every Roman tale…
