THE POETICALLY WRITTEN PROSE CONTEST ─ THE PRIZE WINNERS
After thorough assessment of about 180 submitted works, the Glass Door Team is delighted to announce the prize winners for the 2nd Edition of the Poetically Written Prose Contest. The winning entries, which reflect great quality, unprecedented mastery of language and impressive use of poetic devices in well crafted prose works, are as follows:
- 1st Prize ─ THE ODOUR OF DEATH by Veralyn Chinenye
- 2nd Prize ─ HOW TO MOURN A LOVER by Shade MaryAnn Olaoye
- 3rd Prize ─ DEAR DEAN by Nasiba Babale
Veralyn Chinenye is a student at the University of Calabar, Majoring in Digital Poetry and Advocacy in the department of English and Literary Studies, Shade MaryAnn Olaoye is a student of a leading tertiary institution in South─Eastern Nigeria, while Nasiba Babale works with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano State, Nigeria.
The prize winners will be awarded N30,000, N15,000 and N10,000 respectively.
The Poetically Written Prose Contest, now in its second edition, is designed to specifically encourage young writers and ‘enchanting prose works embellished with poetic devices.’
Finally, the moderators wish to thank all who entered for this year’s contest and to appreciate the kind efforts of the judges and great patience shown by the entrants all through the long judging period.
