Poets in Nigeria (PIN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Awodiya Funke as moderator of PIN Annual Food Poetry Contest.
Awodiya, a poet, medical sociologist and pioneer member of PIN, has served in different capacities with PIN and brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
The PIN Annual Food Poetry Contest, formerly known as Eriata Food Poetry Contest, is one of the earliest initiatives of PIN renowned for its novelty. Awodiya Funke is committed to devising strategies and collaborating with other members of the PIN team to maintain the prestige of the initiative while breaking new ground.
PROFILE
Awodiya Funke is a spoken word poet, author, medical sociologist, social campaigner and sickle cell advocate. She is a pioneer member of Poets in Nigeria (PIN), an active member Association of Nigerian Authors and a fellow of Ebedi Writer’s Residency, Oyo State Nigeria.
Awodiya holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Ado Ekiti, now Ekiti State University, and a master’s degree from the University of Ibadan. She is a freelance presenter having studied basic presentation at National Broadcast Academy. She is the Initiator of Safe Dreams Initiative dedicated to children less than five years and vulnerable children with focus on sickle cell disorders and malnutrition.
Awodiya is a published poet who uses poetry to positively impact people and societies. She currently resides in Lagos.
