In line with UNESCO’s adoption of March 21 as World Poetry Day in 1999, on this day yearly, the world rises in affirmation of the role of poetry as a tool for the empowerment of humanity, towards surviving the times, whether good, bad or ugly.
This year, PIN 10-DAY POETRY CHALLENGE, an initiative of POETS IN NIGERIA, is inviting poets in Nigeria and around the world to craft poems on varying themes, so long as they send healing balms to readers worldwide. In this regard, the poems will also seek to achieve the goal of creatively enlightening all for good.
The top three winners will be given cash prize worth N50,000/US$120 on World Poetry Day
Guide to Submission:
- Poems should attempt to heal jaded minds
- Promote the place of language as a unifier
- Showcase the importance of creative enlightenment
- Poems should not exceed 40 lines
- Must be freshly written and previously unpublished in any form
- Must be the original intellectual property of the entrant.
- Each entrant is entitled to a single entry during the 10 days. Just one poem.
- All entries should be submitted on the body of the mail. Attached mails will be overlooked.
- Submissions should be accompanied by the entrant’s photograph, brief biography, and contact information comprising full name, email address and phone number (in the body of the email).
