Poets in Nigeria (PIN) has engaged a prolific writer and poet, Temitope Abigail Larayetan as reviewer of six titles recently released within the PIN Chapbook Series. Temitope is renowned for participating in different activities of PIN, notably, the Nigerian Students Poetry Prize (NSPP) where she emerged on the list of top 100 entrants three times consecutively (2016 – 2018).
Having initiated “Poetic Insight” in 2015 as a column of the PIN Quarterly Journal, Temitope’s analytical essays will embolden the essence of the initiative. The titles being reviewed are as follows:
- ODD THINGS – Adetutu Adediran
- SMOKE IS JUST A FANCY WORD FOR BURNING – Chibueze Obunadike
- BEFORE THE CLOCK STRIKES 12 – Sandra Achebe
- GOD MADE US NIGER-AREANS – Amina Ayodeji-Ogundiran
- THE BOOK OF CORONACH – Christopher I. Ogwuche
- TOBÉ – Tochukwu Precious Eze
All six reviews will be published on PIN’s official website from 10th – 15th June, 2020.
A graduate of English from the University of Lagos, Temitope’s short story was published by Farafina in the International Sisi Eko anthology. She currently blogs at “Medium” where she wrote every day of 2019 as a personal challenge.
The PIN Chapbook Series was initiated in 2018 to engage the upsurge of interests for poetry writing and reading amongst the younger generation. Tagged “Rainbow of Voices”, the initiative is geared towards showcasing creative prowess of young poets and documenting their opinions on contemporary issues.
