NEW RELEASE (FREE DOWNLOAD): COVID RIFTS by Onyekachi Peter Onuoha
COVID RIFTS is a portrait of a young man who pushes through the crowded streets of the dying and the dead. It paints a poetic ballad of trauma, pain, abandonment, and alienation, as a result of the prowling effect of COVID-19 on the psyche of the world, leading to neglect and death.
COVID RIFTS is a biographical memorial for a sojourned brother at the failure of a certain god and the healthcare system to keep him alive. Through these memories, the poet persona composes a narrative of abandonment by a certain Christian fold whose claim is the earth and through these flickers, he satirizes society.
COVID RIFTS marks the poet’s ability to tackle religion, politics, lifestyle and medicine simultaneously and how they all contributed to the fate of a seemingly sad society suffering from the scourge of COVID-19.
Herein, one individual’s outlook of so many issues becomes a representation of the so many things we all suffer within a span of one year.
